Enhancing the Dining Experience – Deli Snacks
Leeds, United Kingdom
Deli Snacks is a vibrant, multi-branch restaurant based in Leeds, known for its fresh, high-quality food. With two busy locations, the brand needed a visual refresh that would streamline their ordering process and enhance their in-store atmosphere. I was commissioned to design their physical menus, promotional posters, and dynamic TV screen offer displays to create a unified and professional customer experience.
The Challenge
In the fast-paced food industry, a menu is more than just a list of prices; it is a sales tool. Deli Snacks needed a design that was easy to read under pressure, highlighted their high-margin offers, and worked across different formats. The challenge was to ensure that the branding felt consistent whether a customer was looking at a handheld menu in one branch or a digital screen in the other.
The Solution (Strategic Design)
Menu Engineering & Layout: I redesigned the physical menus with a focus on visual hierarchy. By using clear typography and strategic spacing, I made it easier for customers to navigate options, reducing ordering time and improving “flow” during peak hours.
High-Impact Promotional Posters: I designed a series of in-store posters that utilized high-resolution photography and bold call-to-actions. These were designed to drive “impulse buys” and promote seasonal specials.
Digital Menu Boards (TV Screens): I transitioned their static offers into dynamic TV screen designs. These screens were optimized for readability from a distance, using vibrant colors and clean layouts to draw attention to daily deals and meal deals.
Bilingual & Local Appeal: Understanding the Leeds market, I ensured the tone of the design felt local, friendly, and accessible, matching the “neighborhood deli” feel the brand is known for.
The Result
The new design system modernized the Deli Snacks brand, making the branches feel like a premium, professional franchise. The digital menu boards, in particular, improved the speed of service, while the new posters led to a noticeable increase in the take-up of featured meal deals.
